So as you know I have decided to add new regular categories on here and one I had been mulling over was a recipe and movie section. And after I watched this I made the final decision that it was something I wanted to do, so without further adieu here is the first recipe and movie selection (I’m working on a catchy title I promise).

If you happened to read the title then you know this weeks movie/recipe selection is Rosemary’s Baby and a chocolate mousse. You may also have noticed that I spelled mousse MOUSE in the title and if you want to know why I did that or just why the hell chocolate mousse goes with Rosemary’s Baby watch this:

See! Chocolate mousse plays such a pivotal role in this movie it should have been included in the credits.

Any who I admittedly have never made nor had chocolate mousse and I pretty much just have a basic knowledge of what it is.  So after watching a recipe on Novel Noms (link above) that included a chocolate mousse I decided to give it a try.  I figured since I’m broke I needed to make it using whatever ingredients I had lying around my house and unfortunately heavy cream was not in that list. So after a little searching and creativity I came u with a pretty damn good alternative chocolate mousse recipe.

Here is what I used:

- Quarter cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

- Milk

- Starbucks Hot Chocolate mix

- Cool Whip

- Almond flavor

- Cinnamon

I also integrated two main recipes and modified them for what I had. If you just google simple chocolate  mousse recipe you should have no problem finding something to work from. One recipe called for heavy cream and chocolate chips and another called for Cool Whip and pudding mix.

Here’s what I did:

1. Melt the chocolate in a double broiler (aka bowl over pot of boiling water)

2. Heat up milk and mix in hot chocolate mix.

- you don’t need a lot of milk here because it is really just to smooth out the chocolate and stretch it.

3. Combine hot chocolate mixture and melted chocolate.

- again you want you chocolate to be thinned out and smooth, but with a sturdy enough consistency it       doesn’t water down the Cool Whip. You will really just have to eyeball it.

4. Add flavor

- whatever flavor you want I used almond, but you use what you like/have.

5. Mix in the Cool Whip

- Similar to the incorporation of hot chocolate this step is a little tricky. You really have to take a less is more approach because too much Cool Whip and you lose the chocolate taste ending up with chocolate Cool Whip and too little and it won’t be airy enough. I started out with two spoonfuls and it seemed like it wasn’t enough, but after I completely incorporated the Cool Whip  I realized it was plenty.

6. Chill (both yourself and your mousse)

It’s time for another current obsessions list and this edition focuses on my less mainstream loves of the moment. So let’s get started shall we….

1. Camp- Childish Gambino

If you watch community you already know who Donald Glover is and if you have ever seen his comedy act you already know he is one funny mofo, but did you know he raps? Well apparently a shiz load of people knew that long before me, so I am a little late to the party. I actually heard his album camp just a few days ago and I am already beyond obsessed with it.  Which is kind of a rare occurrence for me because I generally am the type of person that likes one or two songs (mostly the popular ones) from an artist and then I’m done.  Only about once every few years do I come across a full album that I not only love, but love so much I have to tell everyone I know about it.

Camp is one of those rare albums.  It is reminiscent of Kanye’s first album The College Dropout (which was and is to this day one of my faves) mixed with Lil Wayne and some Drake thrown in for good measure.  Or as I like to consider nerd rap at its finest.  Plus lets be honest Donald is pretty darn hot.

2. Made of Bricks- Kate Nash

Kate Nash is reminiscent of one of my favorite singers Lily Allen and also has a very similar style to Lily, which by that I mean they both favor lyrics with bite sung over peppy melodies.  A mixture which I happen to adore. And yet again I am late to the party, but I am never really around “music” people, so I have to find new stuff on my own.

3. Hotel Song- Regina Spektor

Last music entry, not exactly a new song but rather one that is currently being played over and over on my I-Phone.

4. Michael Fassbender

Ummm he rocks ginger hotness like no one else, he takes his clothes off OFTEN, he’s talented, and goodness gracious is he sexy. The man is just…………. DAMN! Losing track of thought , I’m done, go stare at Michael.

5. Awkward Black Girl

It’s a web series on YouTube starring Issa Rae and it is maybe the best find ever. At first you might be a little iffy on it, but I promise you that by the end of the first episode you will be completely invested in the characters and ready to click on episode 2. Plus this web series is the reason I found my new favorite album ever (Camp people! Have we forgotten obsession number 1 already?). So enjoy episode 1 on me….

TUNE IN TUESDAYS!

Every week on Tuesdays I will be posting either awesome movie trailers I have come across or movie reviews. I’m combining them to cover the fact that there may be weeks where good trailers are hard to find so on those weeks you’ll get a review or if I just see a movie I love so much I want to tell you about it.

So this week I have trailers for three romantic comedies I am really looking forward to.

1. Exit Strategy

If you happen to watch black romantic comedies you know that at times they lack something. Either the characters are too stereotypical, the jokes fall flat, or the writing is bad, but something is definitely missing. I am glad to say that in recent years this problem is becoming less and less common though it is still a pleasant surprise to find a black comedy that is smart, funny, and just damn good. This film looks like it may be just that.

2. Think Like a Man

I would never be caught dead reading the book this movie is based on (I fell for He’s Just  Not Into You and refuse to be fooled again), but I will proudly stand in line to catch this flick. Like the previous trailer this film looks fantastic and well written with an awesome cast. Can’t wait!

3. Five-Year Engagement

Let’s see… Jason Siegal + Emily Blunt + Judd Apatow =  AWESOME! And that is all that needs to be said.

What You Will Need:

- Chicken or Turkey

- Mayo

- Mustard

- Honey

- Lemon Juice

- Eggs

- Sweet Curry

- Salt & Pepper

- Onion Powder

- Garlic Powder

What To Do:

1.  First we need to mix our sweet curry honey mustard sauce (sounds a little strange, but works fantastically).

- Start out mixing the mustard and mayo together, it’s really to taste but a good judge is about two-part mayo to one part mustard.

- Squeeze in some honey until you reach your desired sweetness.

- Add several drops of lemon juice

- Once your honey mustard is how you want it add in the sweet curry to taste. Again some people might want a stronger curry taste and some might want it milder so it’s really up to you.

2. Finely chop up your chicken/turkey.

3. Take a fork and break up your eggs (do this rather than chopping) it may seem ridiculous, but in the end this makes the salad much smoother and finer. If you don’t like that consistency than by all means use a thicker chop for your chicken and eggs.

4. Combine eggs, chicken/turkey, salt, pepper, granulated onion and garlic in a bowl.

5. Once your mixture has your desired taste add in the sweet curry honey mustard sauce. In case your sauce is not enough for your salad you can add in more mayo or mustard. Another option is also sour cream.  Also add a few more drops of lemon juice to taste.

6. Chill and enjoy!
