Ok I just want to start off by saying I feel great shame that I get as much pleasure as I do from watching this. Oh and also I would like to give Robin her fair due and let you hear her side of how things went, so here is that link:

Ok so I have done my part and given you Robin’s side before showing you the actual clip from the show. So if you choose to believe that she is not as vapid and shallow as they portray her on the show then you can. And with that I would like to say…what the hell is wrong with that chick? Seriously is she on crack or drunk? WTF!
If you did not see the show (I suggest you do BTW) Robin was a contestant on the Millionaire Matchmaker and don’t feel out of touch if you don’t watch it because I don’t either I just happened to see this clip on The Soup tonight. So anyway Robin came in because she was looking to find a “Jewish Matthew McConaughey”. And as you can see Robin is a bigger girl, a fact which Patti blew WAY out of proportion, and from what the episode shows also a very superficial girl as well.
The team set forth to try to find Robin the perfect guy and lined up some quite good-looking smart men that liked curvy girls. Which is where things get a little inky… because Robin really only spent time specifying looks and Patti felt she was overly superficial. So to test Robin, Patti threw in this hot (though I didn’t think he was all that great, but hey difference of opinion) plumber with nothing in common to see if Robin would gravitate towards him.
They threw a mixer and Robin and some dude (totally did not pay attention to his story line…sorry) got a chance to walk around and mingle with all of their potential dates. Robin of course walks around sounding like a total dumbass all night, some of the highlights being her talking incessantly about Hello Kitty, pink, and her dogs (to which Patti gave the world’s best response “Hello Kitty and pink don’t get a hard cock.” Ain’t it the truth girl!), and pretty much only judging the men on looks alone. So when the time comes to pick a mini date of course Robin picks the golddigging plumber and a retired NYPD cop which to be honest Patti was right he would have been a good pick.
By the end of the night everyone is awaiting Robin’s final date decision and praying she picks based on a complete package aka the cop, but of course she does not. Which leads us to the clip you just saw….that pathetic, fucked up display of desperation. Now I admit I do find it funny and I don’t buy for a second that they just edited all of that to make her look crazy, sure there was editing for drama but I fully believe she gave them a lot to work with. Which brings me to the fucked up part, just because Robin was bigger did not mean she had to pay to get a damn date.
The show took this angle that Robin was pathetic and paying for affection (which in all honesty she was) and of course they blamed it on the fact that she was fat and wanted a hot guy. All of which led to Robin being kicked out of the club with the suggestion she go see Dr. Phil or Heidi Fleiss. And here is the thing, being bigger does not mean you need to pay for dates, so why couldn’t they take the angle that Robin had to pay these guys because she was a really unpleasant person to be around. That I would believe! But making it about the fat girl paying for the pretty boy was just degrading.
I felt bad for awhile because I realized I was buying into it by laughing and even by doing this post, but then I thought about it and realized that I was laughing at Robin because she was a hot mess not because she was a big girl. If she had come on the show and been smart and funny (and not offered to give him money every ten seconds) I would have been rooting for her and calling Patti a bitch. Unfortunately that is not what Robin did, she came on and just made bigger girls look bad and for that she should be laughed at.
How can she claim she’s not superficial when every second she is saying she wants a hot guy? And she can claim editing all she wants, but the fact is you must have some raw material to edit with and that episode had plenty of situations where she just gave them material. And then after the fact wanted to take everything back and claim she was made to look that way and that Patti was a bully. I mean sure Patti wasn’t that nice, but she could have been worse and the thing was Patti was not so much aggravated by Robin’s weight as much as her sheer superficiality. And I give her points for calling Robin on her complete and utter bullshit.
Which brings me to what am I trying to say here? If you are bigger or rather have any physical difference outside of the “norm” then maybe you should realize nobody likes an asshole, and that goes for assholes of any size or shape. So maybe you should try to have some depth and not be so focused on appearance. I notice this problem with men a lot (and in a way I applaud Robin for throwing that shit back at them) especially if you ever look around on like internet dating sites. I did a paper on it and over 90% of men that were not in the category of traditionally attractive had very specific lists of physical qualities they wanted in a match, which made me laugh.
Seriously I think we all need to remember that looks are not the end all and be all when it comes to finding a mate and also think of the fact that if we are looking at people through such a fine lens then they have the right to look at us the same exact way. So next time you are making your list ask yourself if you would make the cut and if you wouldn’t then maybe you should consider revising it.
